Lil Kim & Misa Hylton Brim Discuss 90’s Fashion Sense & The Iconic Looks They’ve Created Over The Years

Lil' Kim & Misa Hylton Brim ComplexCon(Versations) hosted by Aria Hughes.

Every self-proclaimed Stylist should take a page out of Misa Hylton Brim's, Image Extraordinaire, book of iconic style and creative design.

I've been following Miss Hylton over the years, but this conversation with Lil' Kim brought everything full circle.

Stepping out in a dope outfit in New York City, solidified the biggest artists in Hip Hop/R&B in the Late 80's through the 00's.  We loved seeing celebs crush Streetwear with High Fashion.

Misa Hylton Brim created many of the looks we saw at that time; from styling members of Bad Boy Entertainment including Lil' Kim, Mary J Blige, Puff Daddy & Mase to earning Creative Director titles for Nelly Apple Bottoms and Baby Phat

She's solidified not only in Hip Hop; but in the world of fashion as we know it.

Lil' Kim has always been a prominent figure in my eyes as well as a global icon.  However, I had no idea the blonde girl in Biggie's JUICY video, the mother of Puff's son, Justin, was the mastermind behind most of Lil' Kim's looks!!

Misa and Kim discussed their journey in fashion at ComplexCon this past November.

Wish I'd known they were gonna share their collaborations with the world at ComplexCon!
Luckily all these great stories were captured on video, and I can add this to my fashion archives.

The ladies explained how they met, their instant chemistry, and infatuation with each other in the video above.

They spoke about all our favorite fashion moments, including the infamous 1999 MTV VMA's purple-pastie bodysuit, Kim's looks for Crush On You video, and the idea of combining fur with streetwear.

Kim also mentioned her work with David LaChapelle, her love for Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, and (one of my favorite people periodt) Marc Jacobs.

One of my favorite parts of the conversation was when Kim discussed how the Chanel suspenders outfit came to life for Missy's RAIN video.  A look re-produced by Beyonce, for Halloween 2017; as a way to pay homage to the Superstar.

During the ComplexCon(versation), the ladies discussed fashion icon Dapper Dan's impact on Hip Hop and Misa's current venture with MCM Worldwide, as well as their plans for the new year.
