IT'S CARNIVAL SEASON!!! 

For many West Indians, Central Americans and South Americans, February marks the beginning of Carnival season.  Trinidad and Brazil are known for kicking of their carnivals in early February... 

I used to be a carnival-head, always on Eastern Parkway for Labor Day, in Toronto for Caribana and Barbados for Cropover!  I've slowed down as I got older, BUT, one of these days I'm going to Trinidad and Brazil for their Carnivals! 

My brother went to Trinidad Carnival last year and my boss went this year.  They each brought me back nice gifts and had great stories, but it's nothing like experiencing it for yourself.

The excitement of the masqueraders, the soulful music/steel pans, delicious food, and the colorful costumes never gets old to me!  So I was particularly delighted when I came across this video of Machel Montano (Soca Veteran) performing a remix of Trinidad James' hit All Gold Everything.

All Gold Everything is a smooth fun song... so the thought of Machel making it a Carnival hit for Revellers to dub to, is classic!  Especially because Trinidad James, (a rapper of only a few months) is a native of Trinidad! 

It's like it was destined to happen- an awesome addition to Trinidad's rich musical history.
